WHAT IS MUDJACKING / SLABJACKING?

It is the process of raising settled and sinking concrete.

IS SLABJACKING / MUDJACKING A NEW TECHNIQUE?

No. It has been used since the early 1930’s and is a common technique in the Mid-West to East Coast areas of the US.

HOW DO YOU RAISE THE CONCRETE?

We first drill small 1 3/8 inch holes at carefully selected locations in the concrete starts the process. The number of holes and their locations are based on need to properly raise the concrete, angles of settlement and are drilled accordingly.

We then slowly pump our highly dense soil cement slurry into the holes using a special hydraulic pump. The material takes a path of least resistance, fills the void and pressurizes the area. At this point we very carefully “float” the slab, going from hole to hole, as much as structurally possible, until it is back to grade.

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THE HOLES?

We repair the holes with a high quality cement mortar mix. This allows us to match the hole color as much as possible to the existing concrete. Of course it is impossible to match the color exactly.

Cracks within the work area are then repaired with the option of using a cement mortar or commercial grade caulking sealant material (extra charge for caulk).

DO YOU PUMP CONCRETE UNDER OUR SLABS?

No. We use a soil cement slurry made from finely sifted top soil, sand and a measurable amount of cement, specifically calibrated for each jobs parameters. Our material is much closer in character to the soil under your concrete and less visible than a white powder limestone sometimes used.

WOULDN’T PUMPING CONCRETE BE A BETTER SOLUTION?

Absolutely not. We have found that pumped concrete bonds with the bottom of the slab and because it sets up heavier, is denser and can weight up to 2X that of our slurry, an anchor effect can happen and pull the slab back down. If you pumped concrete under the slab you would have a bigger problem than when you started.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO COMPLETE MY JOB?

That depends on the amount of work needed at your home. Most jobs are completed within a couple of hours, bigger jobs may take a day or more.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE BEFORE I CAN USE MY CONCRETE AGAIN?

Most areas can be walked on just minutes after the holes are repaired. Cars can be driven and parked only 24 - 48 hours after the job is completed, this of course depends on the significance of the adjustment.

DO I NEED TO BE PRESENT WHILE THE WORK IS DONE?

Most of our customers are not home and we can get to your job quicker if given permission to do it “anytime”.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Every job has different variables that we have to consider to give an accurate estimate of cost. On an average we save customers between 40% to 75% over the cost of removal and replacement. Give us a call for a free estimate!!
